Harriet Jethro Person
April 24, 1934 – November 9, 2024

Harriet Jethro Person, 90, of Plymouth, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at her home.

Harriet Person was born in Washington County on April 24, 1934, to the late John Henry “Jack” and Essie Dean Jethro.  She was married to Benjamin Thomas Person, who survives.

In her working years, Harriet worked as a telephone switchboard operator, a florist, store clerk, and retired as the admitting clerk for Washington County Hospital.

Harriet was a long time member of the Plymouth Church of God where she used her gifts of teaching, exhorting and encouraging. She loved young people and was considered their greatest fan. She loved big and cared deeply for people and had a profound sense of people’s needs. She will be greatly missed in the church family.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Plymouth Church of God (107 Truman Ave., Plymouth), officiated by Rev. William Braswell and Pastor Jeffrey Person. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Jeffrey L. Person and wife LaDonna, of Plymouth; grandchildren: Kelly P. Campobasso of Los Altos, CA, and Daniel G. Person and wife Carley of Benson, NC; two brothers, Shelton G. Jethro (Juanita) of Vanceboro, NC, and Paul G. Jethro (Liz) of Winterville, NC.
