Jane Kitchen Bembenick

Jane K. Bembenick, 81, of Swan Quarter, died October 26, 2021, at her residence.

Jane was born in Grand Traverse County, Michigan on December 25, 1939, to the late Levi S. and Leona Moon Kitchen. She was married to John Bembenick who preceded her in death.

Jane was an army wife and traveled to many places including Germany.  She moved to Swan Quarter in 1982 where she worked for the school cafeteria for several years.  She was the co-owner of Oyster Creek Crab House, along with her longtime friend Ottis “June Bug” Carawan, Jr. who preceded her in death.  Jane enjoyed the ocean, fishing, sewing, crocheting, and was known for her cake decorating.  She was a wonderful friend to many.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Calvary Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Spottswood Graves will officiate. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville.

Surviving are two daughters, Diana Bembenick of Blounts Creek, Loann Bridges (Darrell) of Walstonburg; two sons, Gregory Bembenick (Penny) of Swan Quarter and Joseph Bembenick (Patti) of Rocky Point; grandchildren, Zebulun Frantz, Zachary Frantz (Marcie), Christopher Bembenick, Owen Bridges (Tracy), Amanda Peaden, and Shyanne Paszt; eight great-grandchildren and a brother John Kitchen of Michigan. She is also survived by Bonnie Swecker, Linda Warden, and Jennifer Spencer; all of whom she had a special friendship with.

She was also preceded in death by a brother Richard Kitchen and a grandson in law Roger Peaden.
