Janice Faye (Meadows) Markley
June 18, 1939 – January 8, 2024

Janice Faye (Meadows) Markley, 84, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton.

Janice Markley was born in McCreary County, Kentucky on June 18, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Spencer and Beulah Rogers.  She was married to the love of her life Raymond Albert Markley for 66 years, who survives her.

She attended the Faith Baptist Church in Columbia, NC.  She worked as a real estate agent in Maryland for many years and was co-owner of Beltsville Movers with her husband in MD.  She moved to North Carolina with her husband for her retirement years and to be close to family. She always loved the sandy beaches in North Carolina.  Her hobbies included anything artistic such as painting and all types of crafting.  She also enjoyed tending her plants and gardening.  Her most important task in life was as a wife and caretaker of her husband.  She also loved being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.  Affection was also shared with her two dogs, Daisy and Sadie.

A service will be held Friday, January 12, 2024, at 2:30 p.m., in the Bryan Funeral Service Chapel in Columbia. Pastor Joshua Sykes will officiate. Her final resting place will be at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 12, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In addition to her husband, Janice is survived by a son, Timothy W. Markley (Paul Lilley) of Maine, and two daughters, Kim Hamrick (Mark) of West Virginia, and Teresa Beavers (Brian) of Columbia; grandchildren:  Michelle Childress of Colorado, Amanda White of Columbia, Richard Hamrick (Christine) of Maryland, Joan Riggs (Vincent) and James Markley, both of Alabama; great grandchildren:  Delilah Childress, Hadley White, Hudson White, Ethan Markley, Olivia Riggs, Liana Markley, Keyara Lewis, and Giana Lewis.

She was preceded in death by, her son Richard L. Markley, and granddaughter, Chrystal Hamrick Rounds.
