Janie J. Roughton
June 12, 1957 – December 12, 2024

Janie Jones Roughton, 67, of Columbia, peacefully died, Thursday, December 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband.

Jan was born in Tyrrell County on June 12, 1957, to the late Robert and Mary Roughton Jones. She was married to Donald Ray Roughton who survives.

Jan’s boys and sisters were one of the most important things in her life, during her early years she worked as an office assistant for Jones Homestead. She loved animals, especially her faithful companion Molly.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia.

In addition to her husband, surviving are three sons, Frankie Pritchett, Robert Pritchett both of Virginia and Josh Pritchett of Montana and two sisters, Barbara J. Spencer and Mary J. Vett both of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by a sister Ann Jones.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2024 Hampton Memorial Gardens in Hampton, Virginia. (155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton VA 23666)
