Jeffery Stewart Hassell, 70, of Columbia, died unexpectedly, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville.

Jeffery was born in Tyrrell County on June 12, 1955, to the late James Stewart Hassell and Nina Swain Rowe.

In his younger years, Jeffery worked for Swain Clover Farms, and later in life, he found his true calling in agriculture, working at Comstock Farms for over 20 years alongside his best friend, Gary Comstock. But the one thing he loved the most was being a Miami Dolphins Fan.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Cabin Swamp Church of Christ Church Cemetery. Rev. Royce Reynolds will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at Cabin Swamp Church of Christ.

Surviving are two brothers, Chris Hassell (Ginger), Lynn Hassell, both of Columbia, and many nieces and nephews.
