Linda Bea (Gibbs) Mayo Obituary

Linda Bea G. Mayo
August 31, 1944 – October 2, 2024

Linda Bea Gibbs Mayo, 80, of Engelhard, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her daughter's residence.

Linda Bea was born in Hyde County on August 31, 1944, to the late Walter Lee and Margaret Williams Gibbs. She was married to Bobby Mayo who preceded her in death.

Linda B. was a graduate of East Hyde High School class of 1962, and later she graduated from Kings Business College. She held many jobs to provide for her family. She worked for the former Hyde Supply, drove a school bus, and was co-owner of Mayo Painting, the Cow Parlor, and Shally Bags Karaoke.  For the last 20-plus years, she was the daytime cashier for Martelles Feedhouse where she loved interacting with the community. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ where she was involved in the Ladies Aide, and Vacation Bible School, and directed many plays for adults and children. Some might say she was a spitfire, but if you really knew her, you would know she had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. She loved her entire family and would do anything just to spend some quality time with them! She had a beautiful alto voice and loved to dance and dress up, especially in her high-heeled shoes and jewelry. She lit up the room when she walked in, her presence will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Her nephews Chris Gibbs and Michael Lee Gibbs will officiate.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
