Louise (Davenport) Sawyer
May 19, 1951 – April 14, 2026

Louise D. Sawyer, 74, of Williamston, formerly of Columbia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Born in Tyrrell County on May 19, 1951, Louise was the daughter of the late Clarence Milton and Gertrude Brickhouse Davenport.

Louise was a devoted member of the former Columbia Christian Church Disciples of Christ, where she served as Treasurer, as well as in many other positions. She was a very loving mother
and a very devoted grandmother to her multiple grandchildren. She also loved crafting with her Stampin’ Girls at Camp Caroline.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

A memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia Chapel, with Lee Humphlett officiating.

She is survived by three daughters and son, Dawn S. Hardison (Frank) of Williamston, Gerri S. Kitchen (Woodie) of Hertford, and Freida S. Stubbs (Gerald) of Grifton; and MJ Snell (Allison) of Wilmington. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Paige Colditz, Erickson Hardison, Clayton White, Chase White, Taylor Snell, Conner Snell, Kara Stubbs, and Callie Stubbs. Her constant Companion, Lyla Lou Lou. Her brothers, Walter Davenport and Ray Davenport, and sisters, Annette Reynolds and Fay Boyd (Bill), as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nan Combs.
