Lydia H. Cooper

Lydia Hopkins Cooper 93, of Columbia, died, Saturday, June 20, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her loving son and nieces.
Mrs. Lydia was born in Tyrrell County on March 24, 1927, to the late Brownie Odell and Willie Hassell Hopkins. She was married to Willis Cooper, Jr. who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Columbia Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a choir member, teacher for the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class, and actively served on various committees.
Mrs. Lydia was known for her friendly smile, her gift for caring for others, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. She will be greatly missed for she was greatly loved.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2020, in the chapel of Bryan Funeral Service. A private family burial will follow at Azalea Memorial Gardens. Pastors Earl Hartley and Steven Mills will officiate.
She is survived by one son Leamon Cooper, of Columbia.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Lavier Cooper.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, June 22, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
