Mamie M. Cartwright
February 4, 1944 – May 23, 2024

Mamie Melson Cartwright, 80, of the Kilkenny Community, died, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville.

Mrs. Mamie was born in Currituck County, NC on February 4, 1944, to the late Joe and Lucille Hunter Melson. She was married to Mr. Murray Cartwright who survives.

She loved being outdoors, working in her garden, visiting with friends and family, and caring for her faithful companion Joe. She attended Fairfield Christian Church.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Fairfield Christian Church. Pastor Billy Ray Askew will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cartwright Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service.

In addition to her husband surviving are two sons, Shannon Cartwright of the home, and David Truax of Illinois; two brothers, Willie Melson of Tennessee and Joseph Melson of Willow Spring, NC.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hank Melson and Paul Melson.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
