Mary Ann H. Cooper
October 1, 1943 – December 30, 2023

Mary Ann Hassell Cooper, 80, of Columbia, died, Saturday, December 30, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Mary Ann was born in Tyrrell County on October 1, 1943, to the late Wilbert Grady and Dellibar Spruill Hassell. She was married to Charlie Rupert Cooper who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and gardening.  She loved spending time with her family and friends and caring for her daughter, her cat Gee Gee, and sharing moments with her best friend Mrs. Linda Clough. Sunday afternoons were devoted to catching up with her Western Movies.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Bryan Funeral Service Chapel(*change of location, due to pending weather). The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Private burial will follow later at Soundside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ann Smith (Hubert) of Loxahatchee, FL, Christie Lynn Cooper of Columbia; a stepdaughter, Kay Cammer of Columbia, one grandchild, Dennis F. Crane, III (April) of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Frances Marie Gibbs of Kilkenny, and a cousin, JP Hassell (Faye) of Moyock.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Dennis F. Crane.
