Mary Alice S. Cherry

December 31, 1944 – December 5, 2024

Mary Alice Sexton Cherry, 79, of Roper, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at her residence.

Mary was born in Creswell on December 31, 1944, to the late Solomon Jessie Lee and Mate Curlings Sexton. She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Franklin Cherry Sr.

Mary was a bookkeeper for the family business for fifty-two years. She enjoyed life and loved spending time with her family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Zion’s Chapel Church of Christ in Roper. Edward Bowen will officiate.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by; two sons, Franklin “Pete” Cherry Jr. (Stephanie) of Plymouth, and Anthony Wayne Cherry of Alabama; three grandchildren, Brandon Cherry of Chocowinity, Brittany Fulcher (Andrew) of Ayden, and Mya Nicole Cherry of Chocowinity; one great granddaughter, Wynter Dawn Gomez of Chocowinity; and one brother, S.J. Sexton of Jacksonville, Florida.

She was preceded in death by four brothers; Roger Sexton, Clyde T. Sexton “Billy”, Johnnie Sexton, and Lewis M. Sexton.
