Melbert Dodge, 88, of the Kilkenny Community, died, Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Three Rivers Health and Rehab Center, Windsor.

He was born in Tyrrell County on January 23, 1933, to the late Willie and Ruth Williams Dodge.

Melbert worked in the land development industry as a heavy equipment operator, and later as a farmer.

Amongst his favorite past times were afternoon rides with friends around Hyde and Tyrrell Counties and net fishing.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Bryan Funeral Service Columbia Chapel. Pastor Jimmy Davenport will officiate. Burial will follow at the Dodge Family Cemetery, Kilkenny.

He was preceded in death by a son Melbert Greg Dodge; a daughter, Janet Dodge Paul; four brothers, Danny Dodge, Alfred Dodge, Cleveland Dodge, Lonnie Dodge; three sisters, Mildred D. Brickhouse, Odell D. Snell, and Ola D. Austin.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
