Michael “Mike” Eugene Crowder
August 15, 1949 – September 13, 2025
Michael Eugene Crowder, 76, of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at his residence.
Mike was born in Raeford, NC, on August 15, 1949, to the late Orville and Maude Greer Crowder. He married the former Viola Johnson, who preceded him in death.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Airforce. He later worked as a Veteran Service officer. Mike was a formerly active member of his community, holding numerous positions over the years. He served not one, but two terms as a town alderman, and was for several years the president of the Friends of Oakwood organization. Mike Crowder was also an active Mason and Sudan Shriner for many years in addition to being a past commander of the Fayetteville Arsenal Camp of the SCV. These and many other unnamed and countless positions where he served his fellow man were accomplishments near and dear to Mike’s heart. He was a charismatic and generous man of strong convictions who is already and will continue to be missed by those who knew and love him.
A graveside memorial service will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. Following the service, the family will receive friends at The Crossing Restaurant.
He is survived by his two sons, Warren Crowder of Columbia and Michael Eugene Mercer married to Darin Mercer of Apex, NC, grandchild, Mirin Mercer, two brothers, Charles Crowder married to Patricia Crowder of Raeford and Samuel Crowder of Raeford, and his sister, Sandra Crowder of Raeford.
Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia.
