Nancy Fletcher House
February 3, 1940 – September 8, 2025

Nancy F. House, 85, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, at her home.

She was born in Pasquotank County on February 3, 1940, to the late John Theodore and Sadie Chambers Fletcher.  Nancy was married to Philip E. House, who preceded her in death in 2010.

Nancy was a registered nurse with the former Columbia Hospital, a health educator at Columbia High School, and served as a public health nurse with  Martin, Tyrrell,  Washington Health District until she retired in
1999.  She served on the board of directors for the former Chowan County Hospital and for the Mid-East Housing Authority (1981-2010). Nancy was a member of St Andrew's Episcopal Church and one of the founding members of the Tyrrellinean Club.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in the chapel of Bryan Funeral Service, Columbia.  Pastor Jerald Craddock will officiate. A private burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Elizabeth City, NC.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.

She is survived by her son, Philip E. House, Jr. and his wife Terri of Bowling Green, KY, her daughter, Helen H. Craddock and her husband Ralph of Manns Harbor, grandchildren: Milton White, Jr., James Craddock, Conner Craddock, Levi Craddock, Lynzie House, Luke House, and Samuel House; a great-grandchild, Shaia White; her brother, James T. Fletcher of Weeksville, NC, and her sister, Janet F. Walker of Columbia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Alison House White in 1986.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tyrrell County Public Library, P.O. Box 540, Columbia, NC 27925, or to the Columbia Lions Club, 2284 Albemarle Church Road, Columbia, NC 27925.
