Ruby Reynolds Knight, 95, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Cardinal North Hills in Raleigh, NC. She is survived by son Robert N. Knight, Jr., of Farmington, IL, and daughter Kathryn Knight of Hampton, VA. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Norman Knight, in 2002. Ruby’s siblings, Frances Owens and Thorne Reynolds also preceded her in death.
Ruby lived an active and successful life in many spheres. Between 1952 and 1983, she filled multiple roles as a Methodist minister’s spouse, from directing choirs to playing organ for church services. During this period, she also taught piano to scores of young people in various communities. Later in life, she entered the business world as an accountant, eventually rising to the position of comptroller with a Raleigh-based business. Ruby continued to work well into her mid-80s, living a full and independent life.
A burial service will be conducted at Oakwood Cemetery in Columbia, NC, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Friends and family are welcome. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Bryan Funeral Service in Columbia.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Wake County Hospice or to the hospice service in your locality.
