Ms. Ruth Sawyer Gibson, 86, of Lexington NC., passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at High Point Medical Center. Ruth was born on September 3, 1934, to the late Morris Hall Sawyer and Pauline Dora Brickhouse Sawyer. She retired from Kaby Mills and Wrenn Manufacturing and was a member of Soundside Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, NC, and also attended Straight Way Missionary Baptist Church in Thomasville. She loved to crochet and enjoyed the beach and mountains. Ruth was also an avid NASCAR fan, her favorite drivers being Richard Petty and Chase Elliot. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman Odell Gibson, and her daughter, Brenda Faye Gibson.

She is survived by her son, Charles Morris Gibson and wife Dala of Lexington; daughter, Doris Floyd of Thomasville; brother, Guy Sawyer and wife Faye of Columbia; five grandchildren, Dawn Bush and husband Mike of Thomasville, Jeremy Floyd of Thomasville, Laura Gibson of Lexington, Christopher Gibson of Lexington, Scott Floyd and wife Dana of Calabash; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb Parker, Eli Gibson, Kyle Floyd, and Trevor Floyd.

There will be a graveside service Monday, July 26, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Soundside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 2607 Sound Side Rd, Columbia, NC. 27925, with Rev. Charlie Rice officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday, July 23, 2021, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. C. Green and Sons, 122 West Main Street Thomasville, NC. 27360. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 202 Hospice Ln. Lexington, NC. 27292.
