Samuel E. Douglas
November 9, 1954 – February 4, 2020
Samuel Eugene Douglas, 65, of Engelhard was found on February 4, 2020 after several weeks of arduous searching by the Unites States Coast Guard and fellow commercial fisherman.
He was born in Beaufort County, November 9, 1954 to the late Earl Lee and Teressa Brinn Douglas. He was married to the former Debbie Ham who survives.
Sammy worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his adult life. He was a hardworking happy go lucky, pleasant man, who loved to make you laugh. Sammie had a special connection with children, he loved kids and kids loved him.
A memorial service was held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Mattamuskeet Gym.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Josh Douglas; a daughter, Samantha Douglas; two grandchildren, Brayden Davis and Alexia Davis all of Engelhard; three sisters, Gracie Bowling and Terry Midgette both of Engelhard and Patricia Jones of Chesapeake, VA.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Douglas.
