Sharon Rose Brown Obituary

Sharon Rose Brown

April 16, 1962 – February 6, 2024

Sharon Rose Brown, 61, of Plymouth, passed away Tuesday evening at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City.

Sharon was born in Washington County on April 16, 1962, the second child of Donald Mitchell, Sr. and Alva Rose Hardison Brown.

Sharon was a quiet and thoughtful child who was gifted with the ability to draw, paint, and create.  These talents carried into her adult life as she decorated cakes for events, painted beautiful portraits, and created gifts that will forever be cherished by those who loved her.

Sharon adored her family, most especially her girls and her grandchildren.  She had a deep and abiding love for the Lord, being baptized and raised at First Christian Church in Plymouth.  Later, she joined Holly Neck Church of Christ in Roper, where she found her church home.  Sharon battled many health issues in her adult life, but her faith in God and trust in Him never faltered.  He was her strength.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Holly Neck Church of Christ in Roper, with David Watts officiating.  The family will visit with friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.  A private burial will follow at Jamesville Cemetery.

Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Amanda G. Swain and husband Josh, of Plymouth, and Heather G. Alexander and husband James of Stokes; five grandchildren:  Nathan Hopkins, Jaylyn Alexander, Jamie Alexander, Silas Alexander, and Jacob Swain; her brother, Don Brown of Charlotte; her sister, Amy B. Swain and husband Darrell of Plymouth;. many nieces and nephews and Omar Hyatt, her best friend of San Francisco.

Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service at Hampton Academy, Plymouth.
