Shelton Scott Ludford

Shelton Scott Ludford, 100, of Columbia, died on Sunday morning, August 1, 2021, at the Tyrrell House.
Shelton Ludford was born in Tyrrell County on September 29, 1920, to the late Ephraim Lee and Minnie E. Morris Ludford.
Mr. Shelton was the co-owner of Tyrrell Hardware until his retirement in 2002. He was a father figure to his family and many people in the community. Mr. Shelton was a member of the Columbia Christian Church Disciples of Christ, where he was an ordained elder. He was also a long-time member of the Columbia Rotary Club and Providence Lodge #678 AF&AM.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Bryan Funeral Service Columbia Chapel. Private inurnment will follow at the Maitland Cemetery.
He is survived by his brother Aubrey Ludford and his wife Anne of Columbia, NC; two sisters, Rachel Lilley of Washington, NC, and Polly Dillard and husband Ron of High Point, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence F. Ludford, Woodrow W. Ludford; and six sisters, Ann Shute, Clara M Hopkins, Minnie R. Cameron, Virginia L. Rhodes, Eva L. Cuthrell, and Anna “Dixie” Brock.
