Virginia Thompson Allen, 65, of Plymouth, died, Thursday, February 2, 2023, at ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville.

Mrs. Virginia was born in Watertown, NY to the late Karl Clifford and Shirley Crizer Thompson. She was married to Johnny Ray Allen who preceded her in death.

She worked in the transportation industry as a commercial truck driver for over forty years. She was a woman with a strong determination who enjoyed picking strawberries with her grandchildren and eating her daughter’s cooking. She loved her family, and especially her dog Muffin.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Saints Delight Church of Christ, Roper. Pastor Chris Grimes will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.

Surviving is a son, Jasper D. Allen, Jr. (Bobbie Jean); a daughter, Kathy A. Castaneda (Abelino) both of Plymouth; twelve grandchildren, April Allen, Michael Allen, Karli Allen, Gracie Allen, Sarah Allen, Nicholas Allen, Leigha Allen, Joseph Castaneda, Jay Castaneda, Gabriella Castaneda, Hailey Castaneda, Nathan Castaneda; five great-grandchildren, Jayden Castaneda, Lucas Castaneda, Sophia Pineda, Nayeli Castaneda, baby boy Grayson (June 2023) and a sister Evelyn Armstrong of Plymouth.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service at Hampton Academy, Plymouth.
