William James Gibbs Jr. 
February 10, 1951- April 15, 2026

William James Gibbs Jr., affectionately known as Billy 75, of Columbia, NC, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at The Carrolton of Plymouth.

Billy Gibbs was born in Norfolk, Va February 10, 1951, to the late William James Gibbs Sr. and Jacqueline Selby Gibbs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Steven Gibbs.

He graduated from Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA, in 1971. He then attended Woodrow Wilson Training Center in Fishersville Va 

After graduation, he went to work with Talbot Manufacture Co. He moved to Columbia, NC, and worked with First Colony Farms Land Clearing. Later, he worked security with Tyson Farms. Then he went to work for Tyrrell County in Maintenance, where he retired in 2013. He was also a volunteer fireman, of which he was very proud.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 am at Azalea Memorial Gardens with Jon Langley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. 

Billy is survived by two brothers, Barry N. Gibbs and his wife Ellen of Columbia, and Nicholas W. Gibbs and his wife Cindy of Dover, Delaware, his sister Karen G. James and her husband Delmas of Virginia Beach, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
